Wes, that is quite the platform to kick off 1956... Volkswagen making a splash - Studebaker with the Packard V8, and a plethora of hardtops! Very interesting article; thanks for posting. Chris.

Packard newbie, yes I enjoy reading how the history was unfolding at the time and passing it along to others.

So Packard supplied Straight 8 engines and also V8 engines for other companies, is this correct?
Were the Packard engines used in other brands, still labeled Packard? Wes

As part of a cross-sourcing program with AMC, Stubebaker-Packard supplied V8 engines and Twin Ultramatic transnissions for use in Nash and Hudson cars in 1955 and early 1956. AMC has similar obligations, mostly with body panel stampings, back to S-P but that failed to develop and in the end the agreement terminated.
I'm not aware of Packard ever supplying in-line 8-cylinder engines to another auto manufacturer. PS- Packard did supply some of their 245 6-cylinder engines to White for use in a line of light duty COE trucks in the 1950s.

My bad then, I thought I had read some where Packard was supplying Straight 8s to some other companies around 1953.
O'well always good to know better. Thanks! Wes
