I suspected as such. Thanks, David. The poor-quality photos probably is the first clue.

Now I'm not attacking older sellers but my experience with many of these way overpriced Packards has been elderly sellers that are way out of touch with reality. I've pursued some Packards in the past and tried to reason with the seller on a car that's priced so far out of the current market that even a novice could tell. Almost all of the sellers get very offended and usually never sell the car.

Agreed, an old friend from church gave me a lead on a 1941 110 special that a widow wanted to sell, needed cash.

The car was being restored by her late husband. He had it repainted non-packard two tone. The paint job wrong colors aside, was incorrect as to the way Packard painted two tone. He had the entire car cream with maroon fenders etc.

The interior was crush velvet maroon and looked like something that belonged in a Brothel. the car has not been started in years, dash needs restored etc.

The son is the negotiator and got quite offended when I balked at his firm price of $35,000.

tried to explain while a nice job, it is incorrect, mechanically unknown, and only if resorted properly to concurs level would he even have a chance at coming close to that price, and to do so would take around 40k for correct paint and interior.

Needless to say, they sill have it today and people continue to pass.

Hi

".....elderly sellers out of touch with the current market reality" seems to be endemic to CL, not just Packards, practically any make you can think of. Never try to talk sense to them, it just hardens their resolve to try for the unrealistic price. Not to be ghoulish, I just conclude we'll see those in their estate auction.

A '36 Eight sheet metal:

A '38 Super Eight 1603 sedan, very nice, looks worth the price:
https://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5408702483.html

A '39 Six two door sedan, much incorrect, pricey:
https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/5399292923.html

A '40 110 sedan, not hiding anything, extra parts:
