Any of the Letter beginning tires with 78/70/60 etc are low profile tires and are not appropriate, I believe that older series tires like 8.00, 7.60 are 86 aspect ratio.

My '52 400 has all 5 original tires size 8.00x15 with 3 1/2" whitwalls

Diamondback offers brand name modern radial tires for your 300. Their tires can be had with or without proper width white walls. They closely resemble the original type tires. You can go to their website to review their products.

I actually found a transmission shop 2 blocks from my house that works on them. Drove it there in low gear and soon I will be $2500-$3000 poorer.

I've been very satisfied with the Diamomdbacks I purchased. I buy thru a Packard club and that way they get a little money. You can see their ad in the Cormorant.

Wow...Santee, California...I had not thought about Santee in years and years. I grew up in Fletcher Hills and went to school in El Cajon and then Grossmont High School. I used to peek into Wright's Garage on Main Street as a little boy, and they had old cars in the shop and overhead. Ernie

So what do 3 inch wide whites measure? I had ordered 3 inch. I only get two and five eights inch. this has happened twice.it has cost me a month. The time limit on posting cost me a better explanation. What gives? The company is little to no help. And they agree they are not 3 inch! Brian

If they advertise 3" and you ordered 3" they should measure 3". This is not like a 2"x4" piece of lumber which is understood to be the size pre-cutting.

If you got 2 5/8" the company should take them back at their cost. Try sending them a check for $300 and gave it read $258.

Thank you Fred. This I have done once already. It seems I need to send the ones they sent in replacement back too. As they also measure two and five eights!
