Good Afternoon...At the worst...to get it into the garage, you could jack it up, put it on a couple of stands...for the rear end and disconnect the driveshaft...and push it into the garage...where it is safe until you can figure out the fix...Ernie in Arizona

I just had a thought. Instead of moving it with the starter, why not apply brakes and clutch at the same time, and see which direction it lurches when I hit the starter? Might remove the hassle of figuring how to get it back in the garage. Last time this happened I luckily got a very skilled young tow truck driver who gently slid it into the garage. What a nail-biter! I should have known better this time, but I thought with the shifter in neutral it was a done deal. When it still moved back I thought, erroneously, that letting it move just a little more would make it come out of R. Didn't work out that way. Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm stuck 15 miles away for the night. Any ideas on what to do tomorrow?

Maybe this won’t work for your problem, but this happened to me with my three on the tree/OD Mayfair. Couldn’t get it out of reverse for anything. Finally, I jacked up both rear wheels and out she came nice and easy. Maybe you tried this and it didn’t work, but thought I’d share my experience.
