The illustration photo to me looks more like the flat of the prongs are toward the cover rather than the severe step. That is the way one I had on the shelf looks but can't say if mine has been apart. The manual says install the undercut toward the front or hub so with the way it mounts in the trans I would think the undercut is down and your gear A photo is correct.

If Ross doesn't come along with a definitive answer will be glad to tear one down tomorrow morning and take a photo if there is still a question. Too hot right now.

All the clearances on my pumps were well within specs. So no extra parts required there. I'm hoping when I get to the converter I'll be just as lucky! I'll be moving on to the control body assembly next.

How were you able to get them to fit and still be able to turn the input shaft with one hand?

I still had play.

I could get 3 steel plates..on but could not get snap ring to go in.

So I tried the extra fiber. And steel.. Left me about 1/16th left o spline.

I'll open it back up..still in vise..and take picture

With an extra steel and fiber in, I could no longer turn the input shaft with one hand. This was Ross' "test" for being too tight. So I just put in a single extra steel to take up some of the gap.
