That poor sad '55 Clipper Custom Constellation with the one blue fender in Lima, Ohio. "There but for the grace of God ..."
The survival of these old cars depends a great deal on plain old dumb luck. My Clipper, purchased from an Albuquerque junk yard, was supposed to be a parts car; but when it arrived at its destination, the new owner determined that it was in much better condition than the original Clipper. Now it is getting updated repairs at a top-shelf shop in Virginia and is guaranteed a long happy life (barring traffic snafus ...)

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

It's interesting that the guy with the '55 Clipper wants to trade the car, but he doesn't mention for what? With a 352 V8, it would be a Custom Constellation. And it would be very rare if it is a factory monotone color, which appears to be a dove gray. This could be a beautiful car if someone took the time and effort to restore it correctly.
I think the seller should have mentioned a monetary value for the car. At least that way someone with something to trade (?) would have a clue. Not to mention if the trade was for, say, cash?

It seems like that in the last few months (since elections?) there are fewer prewar Packards offered for sale.
