I think I have one of those boots in my rubber cache.

You had mentioned that a while back but I didn't see it listed in the Steele stuff you're selling. I've never seen one before on any of my other three R11 Henney-Packards.

Maybe it's different year, but I think it's listed on my list as "Boot, clutch control governor", there is also another one which has something to do with the electomatic clutch.

The Packards with Electromatic Clutch but without overdrive also had a governor so that it would know to activate the clutch.

Out of curiosity, what typically grounds a gas tank when it has pads under the straps and on top where it nests? Is it just the steel gas line threaded into it?

That's it, except where the straps run over the edges of the tank where there are no pads.
Run an AUX ground, always. It solves a multitude of potential issues. On the earlier senders, that is easy as they bolt in. On the later tanks, that use a lock ring, you need to run a screw through the tank seam lip.

I would run a ground anyway but with my gas (and brake) lines as rusty as they are, I doubt it would ever make a good connection anyway. Once I get the running gear back together and see if it even still runs, I'll probably buy a length of line for both the fuel and brakes and try my hand at making replacements.

I'm in something of a waiting mode today as I expect to hear from Napa about the rear transmission bearing that I decided to replace. Also an order from Max Merritt was due today according to the tracking but now it says tomorrow which cuts things really close as I'm leaving on Wednesday! The Merritt order has something in it that I really wanted today too.
In a little while, though, my brother is going to help me finish off the fuel pump in pre-setting the diaphragm. I don't have a vise and without one, it takes three hands.

I've seen this asked and answered before but now that I want to know for myself, I cant find those postings! Are the brake and fuel lines 3/16" or 1/4"?
