Hi
Not often I would take issue with one of O_D's assessments but: "For those unfamiliar with Packard's shenanigans resulting from the poor sales of the Light Eight in 1932,..." Quite the contrary, the '32 Light Eight sold only too well, accounting for 40.7% of their total production but doing so as terrible money losers! From their original introductory Sedan prices of $1,750, adjustment came quickly to $1,895...still giving away the factory. The '31 826 comparable '32 901 sales plummeted 35%, suggesting the Light Eight cannibalized sales from its next higher sister model....the Depression did the rest. The '33 1001's were simply restyled '32 Light Eights just to utilize the tooling in hopes of recouping some of their investments, this time at $2,150 to $2,250. It might be fair also to say it displaced the singular 129.5" wb 901 sedan successor for '33. At 1,881 units, they were still giving away the store on each one out the door. Steve

I find the painted radiator shell more nauseating than turning it into a street rod.

Some comments about these cars:
The Panama looks pretty sound, while the Constellation is pretty rough, as is the '53. The '51 looks pretty good for the price and I sure hope whoever buys it leaves it intact. The blue '51 looks very nice and a bad price either. Which gets me to the best of the lot -- the 1955 400. It isn't perfect, but it looks real sound and if someone were looking for a low-cost driver, one couldn't do much better! Thank you for sharing.

The seven passenger has been on CL for many months -perhaps more than 6. The earlier listings had a photo of the car and it appeared quite decent, although it may need paint. There really weren't enough photos to judge the quality of the work. In any event, I don't think anyone interested in the car would judge quality by photos. I don't recall the earlier asking price but seem to recall it was over 12,000.

An original 1940 120 business coupe (with a V8 according to the owner). Sounds to me he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
