If that fails, a length of split rubber hose and some metal hose clamps may prove more durable.

Yeah…for now, I just used what I had. I didn’t have any hose clamps that small.

It looks fine but not sure why you wouldn't just replace it as they're not hard to find in good condition. The plastic ties will eventually weather and fall off.

If I come across one at a good price, I may grab it. But, this one works fine, so it isn’t a real priority. I can spend the $$ elsewhere.

A piece of 1/4" ID air hose ought to work well.

Yeah, I thought about that very late last night. But, I’ think I’ll leave what I have for now. For now, at least it is protected from further damage and it will be a bit before I get the ‘new” transmission installed. I think both materials/methods work equally well.

I seriously doubt the nylon ties will deteriorate in my lifetime. My 2001 Chevy truck came with them everywhere. It’s almost 24 years old now and has 235,000 miles and the only ties I’ve had to replace are the ones that I cut off when doing other work.

I completed a small project today, but one that I’ve long wanted to see. I have never seen the thermostat controlled radiator louvers operate on any car. They’ve never worked on my car in my lifetime due to a bad thermostat, but Dad said they always worked when he was driving it. Up to now, I had the louvers wired open.

I replaced the thermostat today and got to see them work…they work great…VERY cool to see.

Looks good! Wasn't an option on my car. The 33 Super Eight we drove across NZ had them.

I have a video as well. It’s really cool to see them operate.

Painting the “new” transmission is complete. Now, I just need to finish my winter projects. Currently waiting on the rear shocks and new leaf springs along with a laundry list of items coming from Flackmaster. Going to be a fun winter.

The Carter WD-0 carburetor to Stromberg air cleaner adapter is complete. It worked out great. No more choke coil hitting the air cleaner. I got some great time with Dad out of it as well. Rather than him just making it, I learned to operate his lathe and learned a few tricks that he acquired over 45+ years as a tool and die maker. It was a lot of fun with great results in more ways than just the part getting made.
