My unrestored 36 120 was a better and smoother ride than you can imagine! There's no resto-mod that can compete with that. Now when it comes to safety: my unrestored 1936 didn't have disc brakes but the original drum brakes and would stop on a dime! It didn't have AC but it has a cowl vent that was more than adequate! It didn't drive 80 mph but comfortably 55. I sold it 2 weeks ago but I sure miss that car and the character it had. That character is gone when you resto mod it.

While I appreciate the originals and the purists that are passionate about restorations there are those just as passionate about a modernized classic and the "style or character" can be preserved on the exterior with a car that is certainly safer to accelerate on to a hwy and handle better and stop safer. A resto will certainly be able to drive farther and more often to expose more young people to the history and of the american automobiles.

As a side note. (should we start a new thread in general) For those who dont think accelerating is, or should be considered a safety issue-some of us live in areas with parkways that were designed and constructed when highway design was in its infancy. We heve stone overpassas which span our high speed roads not wide enough to accommodate the acceleration lane and over population so as not to allow the extension of the cloverleafs! our entrance ramps are hairpin turns with the shortest in the world(60 ft in places)acc lanes which dead end into the bridge abutments and the busiest rds in the us (except cal) so getting up to speed to merge is indeed a safety concern

I would still like an answer on the "junk" aftermarket parts so builders can avoid them. I will be happy in a new thread to share my experiences and give real world advice on what i found , good and bad , when I designed and built my 1940 coupe. (Yes, modern running gear and relax- it was a Willys not a packard)

1936 senior sedan. I can't tell if its an eight, super 8 or an 12. Looking at the bumper I don't think it's a 12. And luckily it has the original V8 nailhead engine

Agree entirely about that unrestored Roadster however at the risk of nit picking its a 1922/3 First Series because its got 2 wheel brakes. The 1924 models had 4 wheel brakes.
