You know what gets my Goat. Remember that car show / reality show a couple years ago when they would buy cars to 'flip'' and there was this nice 52 200 four door light green and the guy ''flipped it'' for six grand after he put five in it> actually i know the real story those shows are scripted and the true cost of that segment and car was more like over 20k. those ''mechanics ' worked for free on the show. but not in real life..

i hate it that people still 'flip' cars especially Packards I hope somebody does not try to buy this 51 black 200 in SAC City to flip. I would want somebody to buy and drive and enjoy.

But i guess i am a soft old heart divulge of reality in this cruel world

I remember that show. They were showing four different groups of car guys in Texas that kept buying cars at auctions to fix up and sell. But, the work they did on the cars was usually minimal and any paint they sprayed was a really cheap spray job and not likely to last very long (kinda like those Maaco paint jobs I remember them advertising years ago).

I've seen the same thing with Chip Foose and a few others where they do really miracle work in a week or less. That just does not happen in the real world. At least some of the restoration shows they have on now, like the company in Canada, show you that it takes months, and sometimes years, to do them right.

Thanks for the memories and I agree with you completely!

Gene

Owner of the 36 "roller" is delusional. Does anyone here think it's really worth more than $200 or so?

Don't know where the owner of the 54 Patrician got his "only 1730 built", he's off by just a bit over 1000.

that knoxville 53 is sweet . with all the records

the hulk for 2500 american dollars> ??? .
I agree delusions of grandeur or post mortem.. but like fine art (which is my business) .. it only takes one person to buy at your price. i have been so surprised what goes for big money and what wont go for cheap money..
In the fine art work only God knows... it is mostly the hype and salesmanship.
I have seen the same thing in the old car world too.

sometimes to make a sale you rise the price to ridiculous heights, makes it seem like its worth that. Then you bargain and they are so happy.

happy Holidays you guys!

Hi

CL seems to be rife with delusional sellers! All collector car sales venues are beset with the same condition. But, we look anyway, just to see what interesting cars are available, hopefully for that choice deal. To wit:

A '28-29 headlight bar, verify it really is before buying:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pts/4767518006.html

A '41 defroster/foot-warmer, same before buying:
http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/4756955271.html

Some rundown Clippers, '42 & '47:

P.S. If you like "hash", here's some cooked-up at Kenosha:

A 1910 Truck:

A rusty-crusty '39 120 sedan:
http://boise.craigslist.org/cto/4760618946.html

A sad "Free-flow" styled '48 Eight:
http://medford.craigslist.org/cto/4699530306.html

A better "Free-flow" styled '50 Deluxe Eight, ratty interior:
http://spokane.craigslist.org/ctd/4771256743.html

A good-looking '55 Clipper Custom sedan, cheap if its as good as it looks:

I know this isn't CL, but look at this 37 super eight hot rod bringing $91k!!! Why would people shell out that kind of $$$ for something like that?
