Text in ad says Standard Eight. Were there standards and supers in '36? I'll go look and report back.

(o{}o)

Report: Eights and Super Eights, no Standard Eights. I knew this at one time but had forgotten and had to refresh my memory.

Hi

Hope someone takes up that '36 Eight five passenger coupe project and restores it properly. They must have been a lower production model, so rarely seen today. Such nice proportions.

A few Contours, parts & parts cars, projects, driver:

Four 200 doors:

Sad, rusty '53 7-passenger/limousine:

A '54 Cavalier parts car, cheap:

A '53 Clipper Deluxe, stick shift:

What's the deal with those taillight rims? All I've seen only have two bars over the lens, spaced evenly.

Steve

I got some nice pictures of a really nice 36 eight 5 passenger coupe that I missed out on last year. But they are jpeg and the PI site won't take those.

If you mean this PI site, jpeg is one of the formats that is allowed. If photos are not being accepted, check the size to make sure they are under 2 meg each and make sure the name is not long or has any illegal characters in the title. If it still doesn't take, try changing the extension name from .jpeg to .jpg

Changed the name, its a very small file (less than 250 kb) and it still won't work!

I would love to own that 36 Packard coupe. Not seeing it in person, I would say $4000 is a right price.

What is the difference between "base" 8 and "Super" 8. Wheelbase? Engine size? I hate that there are only 2 bad photos.

The clock - I noticed source was LeClaire, Iowa (sp) which is home to 'American Pickers' TV show.

The 53 Limousine has been on here before. What a shame. I am too old and not a good enough welder to take on such a project.

Main difference I see, according to the Packard Model Info here, is the Eights had the 320 engine and the Super Eights had the 385 engine. Expect there were many other differences too, especially in trim and interiors.

The main difference was the 320 vs 385 ci engine, and a 134 vs 139 inch wheelbase. Dash and interior were the same. IIRC the bumpers were different as well.

Wow. I don't think it matters a whole lot, both engine sizes were rather large displacement (Buick had a new for 1936 320 cubic inch motor in their top of the line Roadmaster.

And both wheelbases are longer then I expected. I was thinking 130 inches.

I think I'll call the guy.

2650 or 2651? I cannot tell from the picture and when I see such things, I wish that I had purchased that Packard limo I saw in Congress AZ years ago. Any outward tell tale signs that determines which 53 model this really is?
