removing the stainless steel trim around the window

In getting my 51 ready to repaint, I'm removing the stainless steel trim and chrome. The side trim is easy, but is there a way to remove the front and rear window exterior trim without removing the headliner? Any tricks or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Should be able to remove the interior window surround trim to gain access to the screws that hold trim on through the rubber seal.

We aware that the stainless has a lip that is embedded into the rubber, and if the rubber is now hard, it may be impossible to to remove it without damaging the rubber. For sure to reinstall it the rubber has to be soft an subtle. Are you planning on replacing the rubber? If not, leave the stainless in place and have the painter just mask them off.

If had to use a razor blade to cut the petrified rubber seal out of my car.

Kev, as this will never be a show car, I will probably just mask off the rubber. It's hard as a rock, but doesn't leak. I will be spending enough on the rubber trim for the doors as is, as it's toast and does leak.
