I have a tankless 1955 400.
Got a lead on a tank but the owner does not know what it came off of. All he knows its a 55-56 Packard fuel tank. He is supposed to be sending me pics. Anybody know how many models may have shared the same tank in those years. Its a 4 hour drive so I want to make sure. Thanks

All tanks from 51-56 are the same shape and will fit. The 51 tank has a different number and may be slightly different but still would fit and work.

Great thank you. The guy is not sure if it's a Packard or Studebaker. I am waiting for pictures.

Hopefully Packard. I don't know anything about Stude tanks but doubt they would fit.

Difference in the 1951 tank is that is still has the fill signal whistle and a smaller vent tube, otherwise the same as 1952-56

Does anyone have any drawings or pics of one of these tanks.
The pics on the link above only tells me a little bit. I looked at the exploded views in the parts manuals but did not see anything.
The guy sent me some pics but they are inconclusive. I will try to get them out of my phone later today if I can and post here.

Here are some photos and dimensions which I believe PackardV8 originally posted in another thread a year or so ago. A roughly 26" square about 9" high.

The pics I got were not as conclusive as I hoped they would be. The owner does not know much about the parts that he has. He knows the garage was once Studebaker shop and he has parts for both Studs and Packard. I am gathering from what he says in text messages that the garage has no power so he has to run a light out there just to get these pics with his phone.

That tank is not 51-6 Packard. The sender unit on Packard is held on by a ring and gasket not screws and the fill pipe is part of the tank.

Knew it was to good to be true. Thanks.
Oddly, sometimes this afternoon someone emailed me an Ebay link to a tank for sale. It came to an email address that is tied to Ebay but not to this site.
