Have just purchased a 34 1103 s8 sedan and trying to figure out the correct interior, 1406 or 1408 is the correct interior but I can't find swatches to compare the difference. Called Hirsch and they don't know what 1406-8 is.
Does anyone know if they are both gray or what? It is a standard laidlaw broadcloth. Sorry for being so ignorant but I am just learning how to restore my Packard and I am sure I will have many more questions.
Thanks for your help.
Richard

1406 was Laidlaw striped broadcloth for paint schemes C, K, M & X.

1408 was Laidlaw striped broadcloth for paint schemes A & Y.

1407 was Laidlaw striped broadcloth for paint schemes B & F.

1468 was Laidlaw striped broadcloth for paint schemes D & E.

1462 was Laidlaw striped broadcloth for paint scheme B.

My 34 Eight sedan (paint X) has 1406 and it's a brown stripe on tan wool background. Unfortunately my copy of the 1934 upholstery material listing is printed in B&W so I can't help with the other colors but there was a blue on blue pinstripe which I've seen.

Hirsch did know what 1406 was, he had a special run made for me back in the 70s; he 85 years old now and has probably forgotten. Hard to account for fading over the decades but in reality the colors below ("new" production 1406) are a quite a bit bolder and the stripe less distinct than the original. If you go to this post on the PAC forum and scroll down to the image of the 34 rear smoking set you'll see a much more realistic view of 1406.
