Just wondering if someone can advise me on the proper steps to remove the windshield glass on a 41 sedan.

The big question is do you want to save the weather strip? I normally remove the inner garnish molding around the inside of the windshield, division bar molding and the outer molding ( some times the outer moldings can be stubborn I normally use small plastic type pry bar and wedges.) Once that is removed I normally cut the windshield gasket to reveal the glass and remove it. For re-install I put the gasket in place on the body. Then inside the channel that the glass sits in I put a thin piece of the rope that I have lubricated with dish soap all the way around till the 2 ends meet (either top or bottom). Then I lay the bottom portion of the glass in the channel firmly pushing the glass against the gasket. Then pull the string to walk the lip of the gasket over the glass. This will walk the glass into the channel. Then just re-install your moldings. Hope my explanation isn't to confusing

Thanks
James

Hi James,
Thank you for your reply, I think you did a great job explaining it,if the existing gasket is in good shape can it be re-used or do you advise against it. Many "Thanks"

Just my two cents but if new WS is available, replace it. The old stuff has probably hardened and will either crack when you try to remove it or won't flex and will be that much more difficult to extract.
