Received the latest Fairfield Mint catalog today, and don't remember seeing as many Packards at one time. Don't have any of these to judge quality but at least they mostly look like what they say they are.

I have four of the Fairfield Mint diecast models. Three being Packards, but my favorite one is the 1937 Lincoln
Touring Cabriolet.

While Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint make/market premium, expensive, die-cast collectibles, I'm not so sure that Fairfield Mint makes models, but is more of a clearinghouse for those made by other manufacturers.

For example, the 1955 and 1955 Caribbeans that Fairfield offers are made/marketed by Yat Ming (part of their "Road Signature" series); the 1941 Limousine and a few 1930 examples are by Signature Models.

Mind you, I'm not dissin' on Fairfield, but noticed that quality and/or representation varies quite a bit between suppliers and often found same listed on eBay that were presented under the maker's name. Yet, there are plenty of models made by other companies outside of the few I've named.

Heck, for model train enthusiast's, I found a line of resin-cast, HO scale vehicles, including Packard:

When it comes to collecting Packards in scale, it's all good - some are just better than others.

At wrok we contracted with Signature models to make an exclusive 1:18 scale 1928 Chrysler model 72 roadster, a replica of the car that placed third at LeMans in '28, complete with the open fenders and european headlights. They were great to work with, and submitteed a pre-production protoype that we looked over carefully and corrected some minor deviations on. A very nice model, we had about two years of it as an exclusive in our store and from our (antiquated, cumbersome) web page, they are now available through the Fairfield mint and other 1:18 vendors. I was given the 1:18 scale Caribbeans, I'm really more of a 1:43 kind of guy. Here's my set-up in the basement rec room.

A very nice collection, Mr PB!

I have a few Frankin and other assorted-mostly Packard-Stude. My favorite is still the Predictor. Made in England and very nice work, IMHO.

Nice collection. I have something similar, but I will not post because it would only be redundant to yours.

If you cannot have the real thing, then you have a model of it.

Aah, Howard I knew you had money! The Predictor is beautiful but too rich for my blood. I incorporate my models on the layout as demonstrated by my 1930 roadster.

Not rich Randy, just have a loss of common sense at times and no one telling me I can't do something.

Pushbutton: Nice colection of diecast models. I prefer plastic model cars kits in 1/24 and 1/25 scale. I have some diecasts in my collection including a couple of Packards.
My collection of model cars that I have numbers over 500, most of which I have built.

Again, nice collection. My brother is always wondering why I buy models, especially if they are simillar to the cars I own, he says" You have the real thing... Why do you need a model" as we know, its an obsession isn't it
