I just recently purchased a '55 Patrician and am doing a brake overhaul.
I sent my Bendix Treadle Unit to Kanter to swap out for a rebuilt unit.
there is a rubber grommet where the unit comes through the floor board toe plate that is hardened. Kanter shows it in their parts list (31.4173 in brake section. but when I called they said they don't carry that.

there is also a felt-like gasket that goes around the mounting holes of the unit to the plate.

any suggestions on where I could find either of these ?

For the felt I'd just buy a piece of felt and cut my own, sheet felt commonly available, probably MSC and McMaster-Carr have it in varying thicknesses.

On the photo, make sure the size isn't over the 2 meg limit and there are no odd punctuation characters in the title. File being too large is the usual reason photos won't post.

Am surprised Kanter doesn't have the bellows and I didn't see them at Max's or Steele either -- all of whom used to carry them.. Can it be the great bellows conspiracy or did they just happen to all run out of stock at the same time??

My car is no longer stock to have one to look at but if no one else has something ready at hand to measure I will get some basic dimensions off an old one to give you an idea of how the original was sized.

On the felt, O_D has the best suggestion. Just buy a foot square sheet of 1/4" or whatever but if you want a ready made item McMaster has felt cushioning washers. Don't remember the size needed but you can look thru their selection. Downside if you co that way is you have to buy 25 of them.

HH56, i was referring to the round rubber grommet that attaches to the toe plate, not the push rod boot (bellows) that goes on the Bendix Treadle unit.

Maybe I'm forgetting, I remember the large round rubber grommet attaching to the carpet, not the toe plate. Do I have it wrong?

Could be. It was all loose when i removed the brake unit, so maybe its supposed to go around the carpet.

Yes, it is a grommet for the carpet.

My mistake. Steelehttp://www.steelerubber.com has the carpet grommet if you need a new one.
