That's really cool! A coupe would perhaps make more sense for this application, but hey, work with what you've got.

It looks like the glass headlights, and turn signal lenses were removed, for safety? But the hood ornament with the sharp pointed wings look to still be intact! But it looks good!

The 1951 in this thread is a 4 door,packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... um=4&post_id=108308#forumpost108308

The flIntstone car is a 4 door.

We got the Packard running real nice this evening. Even took it for a drive without the body on.

She's surprisingly quiet with a straight pipe.

And here's my friend Hal taking it for a spin:

Yeah, I spotted that ad about a week ago and my heart stopped. Took some time to think about it and I think the four door might be a better choice for long-distance rally racing. Easier storage for spares, tires, tools, repair, etc. It's darn tempting though, those fastbacks come up so rarely. I'd honestly feel bad hacking this car up, the sheetmetal looks like it's in really good shape and I couldn't spoil a clean example.

Update for anyone interested. I got back in the shop yesterday afternoon and got serious. Pulled the goofy seating platform off, removed the makeshift steering column support, wiring and voltage regulator, drained the coolant, pulled the radiator, disconnected the tailshaft, disconnected the shift linkages, popped the intake and exhaust manifolds, and pulled the head off. The engine and trans mounts are free and it's ready to pluck out.

Any tips? Current plan is to copy what I've seen on these forums and fab up some sturdy brackets and use the head studs to lift the engine out.

I have thread about pulling the motor from my 54 Clipper. The last entry would have been in June or July.

Really wasn't that hard.
