This weekend I decided to work on the Bijur oiling system. I found that the original oil meter valves were all gummed up last weekend so I ordered new ones from Bruce Blevins. The parts haven't come in yet but that didn't stop me from making all new lines this weekend. I first measured all the old lines and drew them up so I could recreate them after I had taken them apart to use the T's. The T's are made of steel and are soldered to the copper lines so I used a good quality silver solder and they went together without incident. After the lines were back together I sandblasted all the fittings and gave them a coat of black chassis paint.

Here's a quick peek at the engine progress. I was at Brians place again today to drop off the starter and generator and I took these progress shots while there. I can't wait to get it in the chassis again.

If any of you out there in Packardland reading this knows where I can find a pair of Stromberg OE-2 carbs let me know. I want to run dual brass carbs on this engine.

I finally received my new Bijur meters last week and was able to finish up the work on the oiling system. This is time consuming work so be patient. I found that a few of the lines I had soldered up last weekend had to come apart to fit in the frame and some of the lengths I had measured needed to be fine tuned in the process. Before starting I retapped all the holes 7/16-20 because some of them had overspray in them. I also used a good copper based anti-seize on the threads which made them go together a bit easier. It still took two more days to finish. The new bijur metering valves were made from brass where the old ones were aluminum as you can see in the first photo below.

Bruce Blevins is a source for the Bijur drip plugs. Classic & Exotic also has some Bijur products.

tfee, very nice workmanship!

beautiful! I wish that I was that far along. I am back overseas, and my wife is much more interested in the '55 Clipper that I just got, so my '28 may take a back seat, for now. Of course, the idea is that once I get the '55 driving it will motivate her to release the purse strings. Again, I am jealous of your progress, good work.
