Though certainly not common, I don't kow that I'd go so far as to call them rare. The value would be far greater if you also had the strip film slide show that went with them. Perhaps you'll be lucky and find someone who has the srip film but not the records.

Thanks.
I had a feeling there was a strip to go with them. Unless it were carefully stored I would imagine it would be crispy by now. I also get the feeling there was at least one more in the series. Was there some kind of picture cover that went with them? No info from record guys so I'm one step further. No plans to do anything with them in the immediate future but if anyone wants them contact me I would like them to go to a good home. T

If you're willing to donate them and take the tax deduction, probably the best home would be one of the national Packard Museums.
packardmotorfdn.org Or the National Packard Museum in Warren OH.

Thanks, it may come to that, but I do in theory make a living selling records so I'll shop them around first.
Any ideas if they came with covers? T

I believe that there was just a plain paper jacket for these records.
In addition to the film stips there was often a printed booklet with the same text and photos issued. Copies of the booklets for both of these records can be found on this site. Film Supplement Vol 3 Film 1

Dear Des:
I've seen those before. They came with a film strip, projector, and phonograph. I knew somebody who had bought out Packard and Chrysler dealers and had that stuff in complete sets. One time he set one up. Really schlock. It seemed they harped about the cloisonne hubcaps for an hour.

Did Chrysler have similar?
I was about to ask, schlocky in what way, then I saw you edited it. I could see where hubcaps can only be riveting for so long. Must have been part 3, no hubcaps on mine.

I think all the car makers turned out those things. They were made up by advertising agencies and not necessarily for public use. I only saw one of the Packard ones, although I had a tape about one of the first Ford stereo systems and it was so bad I threw it in the trash. Smut really. Audio/visual advertising in those days was more exagerated an intrusive than today with trash pitches like the "Man from Glad" and "Fast, Fast, Fast Relief!!!" not to mention idiotic medicinal claims about menthol cigarettes helping clear the sinus.
Craziness in human behavaior is a constant and today it has taken on a different form. Most people of influence are crazy and I don't think most people find authority acceptable unless it is vested in a nut. I think advertisers understand this and so they generate madness.
