The Kanter fellow that sells the kits says that the wheel kit only for the the front discs works just fine with the original single cylinder master ,just have to push hard

That statement would give me pause to get clarification and more information. What's the definition of hard and is he talking manual brake system or Treadlevac for starters.

According to all the brake sites, the disc calipers take more pressure and usually more volume than drum cylinders. As I recall from some measurements, the pressure may be adequate but the Treadlevac ram displaces a slightly lower volume compared to a conventional 1" piston master. While it may not be absolutely necessary if the weight balance is good, because of the higher pressure discs need, most brake outfits also recommend a proportioning valve to keep the rear drums from locking up before the front discs have a chance to work. What is their feeling on that?

Not sure I'd want to be trusting a car with old original masters to stop on a dime any better with discs. As the pads wore down and caliper pistons had to travel more and needed more volume it might not be there. Not sure I'd be wanting to push any harder to do it either.
