Ross,

Beautiful work. Better than any reality show on Speed, Discovery Channel, etc. Look forward to seeing this in Detroit.

Thanks guys, very encouraging.

David--the top is easy to repaint, you could change it in a weekend. Almost every dark color looks good with ivory.

The repainting is easy Ross - it's just that my wife would probably shoot me if I bought any more expensive paint!

There has been a lot of whistling and humming going on around here after hours.

Ross,

That looks too nice.

Are you going to add the bug juice and splattered remains as seen in the picure on page one of this thread?

A screen for your radiator?

Did you add back to the grill? The picture on the first page looks like the center drop down was cut out, and the final picture has it back in.

There is a grill mesh (63 Lark) to protect the rad from birds and rocks etc. It's painted flat black and invisible except with camera flash. Maryland requires a front plate so I thought I'd go ahead and make a real place to mount it.

Finally found some moving footage of the original. Hear it (briefly) roar at 3:31---http://youtu.be/vIc0KhjGKW0.

Here at home have been doing unexciting but necessary wiring and fiddling with door handles and such.

Front and rear windows are in. whew! How did they ever do that in a timely fashion on the assembly line? Steele gaskets worked just fine. The wiring is done as of this afternoon. Painting the dash white on the back makes everything easier to see later on.

Couldn't resist adding the crests to the C-pillar trim. Hope I don't lose points. Hee hee. Never cared too much for the roundy front windshield corners on the 51-52s, so made a new trim piece to square the corner and give more of a hardtop look. Very pleased with how the instruments came out. The halogen headlights (6v, obtainable from Napa) make light as though someone is stick welding in front of the car. Mounted my Weld Racing aluminum wheels and 700R15 radials--probably the most accurate looking portion of the whole replica.
