OD,

I'll keep the distance to the radiator in mind. What would you suggest using as a space?

Bronze or steel? Aluminum or brass would probably also be OK. Unless you've got machine shop facilities yourself you'll probably have to design something yourself and have a machine shop make it. You can't of course extend the pulley or you'll throw the belt alignment off so it's got to be a spacer between the sheave and the fan.

Back to the drawing board. I believe we set the timing at TDC. If you sre looking in the starter hole, the first line that come around as the engine turns clockwise (from this angle) should be the timing mark The second one is TDC. We set the timing on the TDC mark.

With a few guesses as to perspective, the two fan photos that Tim supplied have the same size fan. The math is straightforward, but the guesses about perspective could be wrong. Anyway, the best I can estimate the fans are the same size.

Again, this is based on the photos.
