I'm hoping someone has info on the line route as well, Only picts I could find are for the later cars or the passenger side. The clips are in what appear to be factory punched holes in frame so am working under assumption they were always there.

As to the exhaust, it's too late. Been open for many years but all is going to get changed anyway. I might have to keep the flange depending on what arrives with a new exhaust kit but as for the rest, it's old and thin. I don't think a glasspack not much larger than the pipe diameter was original either.

Wes, I am in your debt for going to all that trouble to document the fuel line. Many many thanks.

My routing is correct after all and just needs one more clip. Who would have thought Packard would have engineered the tube just hanging below and in the open unprotected like that but they obviously did. Now that project will be finished but the brake tube saga is still ongoing.

Have new clips installed on the side and line is nicely supported now. Some more questions before putting the fuel line to bed please.

The parts book lists a clip to engine stabilizer support for the 2106. What does that clip look like and does the line move closer to the frame or does the clip suspend it mid air? Right now the line is away from the frame about an inch the entire distance from the underframe clip to that center front support. Is there anything used between the clip on the underside of frame around the battery support to that engine stabilizer clip? Parts book makes me think no but lots of items in that area so just checking.

There is also a hole on the center front that looks suspiciously like a clip might be called for. If so, what type or does the line just get some hose protection placed over it to keep from rubbing the support? Parts book is ambiguous on that one for the 2106. Used on other models but since there is a support on either side of the middle, a question if that one is used on 2106.

The fuel line for 22nd Series Custom 8's has the same configuration at the front as the 21st Series and sits close to the frame behind the shock absorber and next to the engine stabilizer bracket but with no clips.
There is a clip of the type in the photo that holds the line tight to the center support.

The final set of pictures of the gas in front of the engine.
This is what my Maroon 47 Custom Super looks like. One clip outside the engine bay, line is off the frame. A clip in the middle and still off the frame to what looks like a mounting block where a hose runs to the fuel pump.
Hope this helps.
Wes

Thanks again. Have added those two clips - one in front and one on side near battery box because there were holes which looked like good candidates for a clip. Not sure the front was on a 2106 but had extra and it looks good.

I'm still wondering what they are referring to on 2103-6 for the engine stabilizer mount clip. Could that be the one on the side? With those two added, not much flex but I may come up with something for the mount area-- even tho maybe not Packard looking -- to suit what I have.

HH, something I'd never thought about or noticed, did the 356 engine when in the Clipper chassis also use the side stabilizers as did the prewar 160s and 180s?
