I'm kind of a Y-block fan, since the 292 in my boat has always performed so well. I'm wondering, was the Lincoln 430 (also featured in the '60 T-Bird) based on the Y-block? There seems to be plenty of room in the Y-Block design to accommodate that displacement.

No, the about '52-57 Y-block Lincoln was a larger but similar design, but shared few parts with the '54-64 Ford Y-block.

The so-called "MEL" (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) 410"-430"-462" was from about '58-68 and was a totally different design. It had flat surfaced heads and the block was cut at an angle, similar to the 348"-409" Chevy W-engine.

Since no one else ever used that feature again, it must not have been a best-science idea.

We have a red and black hardtop in the area with F.I. Since we are being somewhat coy here, I hesitate to name the owner (and I don't know his handle here) but it was shown at the Branson convention a few years ago.

It is my understanding it was driven to Branson....
