Ranco heater valve

Before I put it back together, I just wanted to confirm that the older valve on my '48 doesn't use a rubber seal on the part that controls the flow of the coolant. My kit has the rubber valve seat, but it's for a newer style valve.

Thanks, Jeff

The valve seals metal to metal. The rubber diaphragm for the stem is all there is .

The same rubber seal works for pretty much every Ranco value that Packard used as well as most GM and FORD products.

Thanks guys, Now I can put the valve back together. I bought my seal kit off of ebay. I think it was listed for mid-50's to early 70's Chrysler products and came with the main seal plus the rubber seat that must only be for the later valves.
