I don't believe that that is a factory installed radiator guard on that Austrian Packard, do you?

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

Craig (MrBumble), no, to me it looks like a protective grid of the backside of a refrigator.

In 1927, when the below shown photo was taken in Manila, the star spangled banner has been the national flag of the Philippines.

It took me a while to find out the name of the ship in the background of this unusual 1929 Packard below. It is the German steamer "Bremen", the so-called "Ocean Express". Let's listen to wikipedia: "At the time of her construction, she and her sister ship Europa were the two most advanced high-speed steam turbine ocean liners of their day."
I have reason to believe that this picture was taken in Germany and will expand on later.

That's a well-known photo, I've seen it many times. I don't recall the coachbuilder, Erdmann & Rossi perhaps?

Gusha, I've got gobs of history on the Bremen and Europa if you're interested. The Bremen burned at the pier in Germany in 1941, thought to be arson by an unhappy cabin steward. But the Europa lived on, going to the French as war reparations and sailed until 1962 as the French Line's Liberte, finally going to the scrappers when the new France arrived.

I don't know but the ventilation louver looks unusual.

Dave, as you will see, this thread makes a small excursion straightaway into the belly of the Bremen. While looking for the background-story of the picture the name of the driver runs into me.

It is Fritz August Breuhaus de Groot, who designed the interior of the airship "Hindenburg" as well as the interior of the steamship Bremen (1926-28). That's the connection to the above shown picture.

Two instances of the quintessential good taste of Fritz August Breuhaus de Groot: his car and his work.
Well, his pant legs are a matter of argument.

Randy, in trying to find a connection between Packard and knickers I came across this picture.

"1934 Packard nine-tenths left side view, parked on street in front of Knickerbocker Hospital, 70 Convent Ave., male driver at wheel, male in rear. Inscribed on photo back; Packard 1102 eight, eleventh series, 8-cylinder, 120-horsepower, ambulance."

Far away from home the below picture was taken. It shows a Packard in the 1940s in Bucharest.

This car is up for sale in Germany ($20,142.00). Make a snatch! The seller offered it to "run in a race or something like that".
