Hello All:

I received a Merry Christmas e-mail from one of our MCP club members and he attached two links that were recently posted on YouTube. Both show a 1930, model 745 sedan being tested at the Packard Proving grounds.

Part 2 of the video indicates AVERAGE speed of 68 mph!????

Very instructive.

Note the 35psi oil pressure at idle in the hot motor.

68 mph for 9200 miles is pretty stiff endurance for a babbitt bearing motor with a 4.69 rear end ratio. That's cranking 3300 rpm.

The limit on the Merrit Parkway was 35 mph and those cars should only be cruised at 45-50.

On the touring car and roadster, folding the windshield should raise the top speed by at least 6 mph.
