Don't have specific info on a 28 but here are photos of number locations from engines on either side of 28. Maybe in a similar location??

As HH56 shows in the top left photo, it's on the left (driver) side of the forward engine mount arm or leg which itself is an extension of the motor block. Number should be between 125,013 and 166,776. Photo shown is from a 7th Series Eight.

Thanks guys! Printed the photos out and gave them to my friend, who is computer challenged. He's got the fenders off the car and will check on the serial number as soon as he digs thru the dirt and grime. I'll post the numbers when he gets them.
