The photos seem pretty clear that the dual 4-bbl setup is gone. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to value.

It seems the single four is on the 400 that goes as part of the deal. No intake on the Caribbean. I was thinking maybe the dual set up was removed for safe keeping.

I see an intake on both cars, each with a single 4-bbl. Are we looking at the same car (black Caribean on a trailer for sale by "teddust")?
If the dual carb setup were there and complete and only in fair condition, it alone would be worth more than the current bid for both vehicles combined.

The pix and text from that eBay listing:
ebay.com/itm/Packard-Caribbean-Convertib ... 6627&pt=US_Cars_Trucks#ht_566wt_900 ...are same as used in an offering that was recently posted on CL: cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/4342659361.html That might provide a clue as to the reserve, but I would never pay that much for even the pair. Of course, I don't even have the time, space, or $$$ to consider such an acquisition right now. Perhaps someone, with sufficient level of DIY skills, could restore the 400 and sell it to finance the restoration of the Carib. Yup, the round air cleaner laying under the hood of the Carib is a pretty good clue that the 2x4 setup is missing, but that looks like a Carter WGD carb under it. Makes me wonder exactly what engine is in there, now, which could further (negatively) impact value. Kinda hard to tell exactly what carb is perched under the air cleaner of the 400, but kinda looks like a WCFB to me. Caveat emptor!

There was a fellow in the east coast who had a collection of five (5)! 1955 Caribbeans at the same time. (This was about 20 ears ago.) None were running and several were nothing more than parts cars. They were scattered to the winds after he died in 1999. This may have been one of them.

if the Caribbean had the correct air cleaner and 2 4bbls' he would have a 15K package here, with no correct 2 4bbl setup I think he has a 9 to 10K retail package here, it will cost someone at least 5k to acquire a correct 1955 2 4bbl setup for this

The seller states that it does not have the dual carb setup.

The seller states that it does not have the dual carb setup. As of this writing, I don't see where that detail was disclosed in the text of either the eBay or the CL listing. Did you receive confirmation on that privately?

I contacted the seller through e-bay and asked him about the dual carbs. He responded via e-mail that they were not present. I believe there is a method by which you can see what questions have been asked about items up for bid.
