Ok thanks - mine looks just like the picture on page 25 of the 1946-1950 Service Manual. I will post more about my wiring later -

Here is the switch and connectors. The piece of wire shows the Douglas terminal which slides into the switch part. Note the arrow on the wire terminal photo pointing to the slight depression. That depression is grabbed by a piece of springy metal shown at the end of the arrow in the switch half of the connector and prevents the wire from being easily pulled out. If yours is being difficult I wonder if someone has taken pliers to the connector and bent it so it is too tight.

Also have a photo of the same terminal as used on the solenoid valve. You might be able to get a different view or perspective.

Thanks again Howard. Seems like an odd way to attach the wires but now I see how they are attached. The other example you show - Is that on the Electronic Clutch Control Valve ? I don't see it. Thanks

The advantage to the push in terminals is they are generally secure connections, don't take up a lot of space, and don't require screwdriver access. If you do any work under the dash on cars past the 21st series most of the switches will have this type terminal.

On the post war Electromatic control valves, the solenoid is under the control valve and the two wire connections are not directly visible.

HH56 - Would it be a good idea to shoot a little P Blaster on the terminals before I attempt to remove them ? Don't want to break the board - Thanks

It won't hurt and might help free up any corrosion. I would try and keep it on the terminals toward the wire side and not drown the phenolic board. The board will stand some wetness but less is better. You can also use contact cleaner if you have any.
