Accordiiiing to post #1 above the car is a 56 400.
Disconnect battery. reach under dash and push ign sw toward rear bumper while holding chromium bezel with other hand. turn ign. sw. assembly about 1/4 turn (either left or rite, i don't remeber) and remove sw and bezel from dash. Procedure covered in SM. The ignition sw on 55 and 56's is made like a Dzus fastener. ?

BE CAREFUL!!! The 55-56 ign sw bezels are very fragile and break easy. So don't get ham fisted with it.

Even very careful removal of the ign sw. can still cause the bezel to break. The bezel is a very flimsy and poor quality. SOprobably count on needing a new bezel either way.

you can't buy buy lock smith tool unless you have a lic. now a days.
Interesting. That wasn't true as of a year ago or so, I bought a new lock pick set by Southord and no documentation of any type was required.

I've routinely heard claims of illegal to own lock pic tools too for several years now. Even heard it's a federal offense. But have not been able to find any official (or reasonably official) documentation/sources to support the claims.

I bought a set on Amazon a year or so ago. Unless it is a recent thing, they didn't have any disclaimers such as the usual "Not for sale in California" notice. So far no one has come knocking.
