I am putting a chart together for my local club, Do I have my colors correct on the chart?

Also when out looking, it will help to determine if things have been repainted

Looks correct to me. I think the only mention of engine color was in the parts manual and a couple of tech bulletins. There were also some 55 senior service engines that apparently went out with turquoise (blue as Packard called it) instead of ivory so who knows if any of those were installed but not repainted as Packard suggested.

You might mention on your chart that the 55 turquoise and 56 turquoise are thought to be different. Hirsch has repro'd 55 but apparently there is some different opinions on what was correct for 56 so to the best of my knowledge no one has repro'd the 56 turquoise.

thanx as always HH. Glad you did mention the 55/56.

I did notice that on my 56, it is more of a Greener Metallic vs. 55 bluer when we were looking at them tonight.

This says,
Red, turquoise, ivory for 55
Green, silver, bronze for 56

The cast numbers would give you a better indication.

I've wondered about the listing of silver for 56 engines and almost mentioned it with my comments regarding the two turquoises but don't recall ever seeing a silver engine. I am wondering if the silver was for the rocker covers.

Silver was for the 1956 replacement engines. There was a fellow in California with a '56 400 with a sliver engine. After losing several points at a judged show, he painted it bronze.

Troy, thanks for delving into this and posting your results. I believe the 56 rocker arm/valve covers were silver painted with either 'PACKARD' or 'CLIPPER' embossed and painted red. Caribbeans had chrome plated covers at least in 56.

JW, that is the goal is to get this correct. Their are so many variations out there, what is "Factory Correct". I.e., I have a 56 replacement engine and it is Turquoise, never seen silver.
We are trying to get it correct and can add it here when we got it.
