Ross, Thanks for posting that photo. First I can remember seeing with horizontal orientation and, IMO it does look much better than the thing being vertical. Can't say the old crosshatched pad looks that great with the power brake pedal but guess we can't have everything at the same time. The former owner who added the Studebaker pedal might have been thinking along those lines too because that pedal and pad actually looks decent next to the brake. The set in that V8 parts manual illustration looks fairly decent if they are available. Vendors or Steele doesn't show anything but the older style for manual pedals.

Don't see much in Studebaker pads offered from Steele but if the year or size of the pedal can be narrowed down a bit Studebaker Parts has two or three that might be a likely candidate to replace that worn pad.

Thanks I found the correct pad on a Stude parts website. $16

I greased the shaft real good, worked the pedal and greased some more. It's better but the knock is still present as is the scrunching. Also the knock is now present at idle when I press the clutch to the floor. Guess it's time to rebuild the linkage.

I need to find a mechanical parts catalog for this car.

It's hard to say what you have. The stock Packard linkage is shown on plate 63 in the 51-4 parts manual. A couple of different but typical Stude linkages are on pages 41 and 42 of the 57 Clipper parts manual in group 2, clutch.

Both manuals are available in the literature section on site. Hopefully your pad and mounting plate was the only thing different from stock but perhaps you could check the illustrations and find what you have.
