It is 5/16 tubing and several of us have used the Cupronickel or Cunex tubing. The original was steel and more a grayish silvery color (before it rusted) while the Cupronickel is and stays more a coppery color. Whether a judge would call the color is unknown but IMO, when compared to steel, the ease of bending to get it thru a couple of places at the front far surpasses the color difference. It also brazes or silver solders onto the front final tube to hose transition mounting block and fitting quite easily.
