I just made a comment on Facebook regarding a 1929 Packard 640 dual cowl phaeton. I said I didn't think Packard built a 640 dcp, despite that I can find contemporary photos of at least 3. In the research books under the 640 listings, it only mentions phaeton, whereas under 645 they make mention of both phaeton and sport phaeton.
So... are there any factory photos of a 640 sport phaeton? Even if no photos, I'd be interested in other's thoughts on this.

West, the most authoritative source I have is from original documents of the Packard Engineering Records Dept, attached. These records were then used to reference the engineering drawing numbers for the bodies, RHD and LHD chassis, and finished car.

If the wheelbase really measures 140" and is a dual cowl (as opposed to just having an optional tonneau windscreen) I'd suggest the car is either new-bodied or some sort of mongrel.

I was under the impression this was an authentic car. It was restored in the mid 1990's by the Wendling Bros. Or is this a 645?

Another suggestion would be to look in old CCCA magazines from the 1950's & 60's and see if there are any shown that look somewhat original.

That's a Deluxe Eight 645 sport phaeton.
