Anyone know if the diameter or length of the hydraulic ram or the cylinder portion was the same over the years? A slight difference in either would affect the feel. Just wondering if they might have played around with changes in that area along with the power unit with the P-1, 2, 3, 4, designations. If a new ram or cylinder was installed during a rebuild that might explain a difference.

The diameter of the ram could certainly affect the sensitivity.
But length of ram nor size of chamber would have any affect at all.

The diameter of all the components stayed the same, so no change in the potential force created by the vacuum, thus the hydraulic pressure by the piston.
