I knew at what time the purpose of this extremely rare option, but now I've forgotten. Can anyone enlighten me on its purpose, and how it works and/or how it's supposed to be plumbed under the dash?

I believe Jim Hollingsworth had a car that had this option. I wonder if it is described in his book on the 1940 model?
