I have a 53 Clipper that needs a new head gasket, and was wondering if anybody had a torque pattern for the head nuts. I've been able to find torque specifications but not a stud pattern. Any help would be appreciated.

Approach the final torque in several increments and re-torque within a half hour of first startup, again after a few hours, yet again within a year and check it annually thereafter for a couple of seasons.

Is this torque pattern good for a 38 super 8 as well?

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

BDC, I'm pretty sure there is a pattern for your 320 cylinder head in Motor's Manual, if not in the Packard service information. But if not, just start in the center and work your way from the center, left-to-right, front-to-back.
