For future reference, the nut size is 1-5/16.

I also discover that a 1-1/2lb dead blow hammer is no match for a rear drum that has been in place for over 20 years. As I hit the dog-bone on the drum puller for about the 100th time and the next thing I knew the garage floor was peppered with metal shot from the dead blow hammer. Time to go buy a 5lb sledge....and a new dead blow.

I've always had good luck putting a lot of tension on the puller, and then going off to do something else for a while. Often when I'd come back, it was loose. Don't forget to leave the nut on part way so the drum doesn't fly off and possibly get damaged.

I'm not sure what u mean by a dead blow hammer. Probably one of those plastic hammers filled with 00 buck shot?????

Use a 2 pound hammer. Just regular steel head type. Get tension on the puller with several hits and alternately strike the head of the puller main bolt parallel to the axel shaft. THis will throw shock directly into the taper area to shake it apart.
