Not sure what exactly you need but you might download a couple of service letters that show partial photos of linkage. Here are a few.
packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SL-VOL14NO21.pdf packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SL-VOL14NO20.pdf This one has the most complete illustration of the linkage. packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SL-VOL17NO5.pdf The steering column portion was essentially the same internally from 39-50 with the exception of the shape of the levers. The later Clipper based cars have a different linage to the transmission than the 41 conventional body but if you need info on the upper portion there is a decent exploded view of the shift tube and steering column section on page 45 of the Clutch and Transmission section of the 46-50 service manual.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/servicemanual4650/Section7.pdf

Howard,
Thanks again - I try to refrain from posting simple questions on here like this, but it's so tempting to hit the "easy button" when I get such timely and informative answers here.

hynesjm, when you ask a question you are setting up a learning experience for others, there's no dumb questions here, instead there are exceptionally knowledgeable "Packard Pros" that daily help us less fortunate, challenged Packard owners through our trials and tribulations.

Thanks Steve!
I must say out of all the car forums I've been party to - this is by far the best and most useful
