I'm trying to help a new Packard owner. He just got a 37 Packard Super 8. The car overheated rather quickly. I quickly figured out, not only was the butterfly valve stuck but, the previous owner hit it trying to loosen it up and broke the weight off. Now he needs the whole manifold heat control valve assembly.

Unless it's a show car, I wouldn't bother with it. Just remove it altogether, or somehow keep it open all the time.

I believe either Max or Kanters (or perhaps both) have a kit with the thermostat spring and perhaps some other parts. The rest would be easy enough to make if you can't find it from them or elsewhere.
