What year are these cars? 1939?

One has 120 on the side mount spare, the other is a twelve?

What kind of a hood ornament is that?

FDR or his staff had a partiality for individual hood ornaments. Take a look at this one, embellishing his 1932 Twin Six 905 (body style 570) with the New York governor's fleet insignia.

If I don't dig it up, somebody else can dig up an article about that 42 Packard conking out in the middle of an intersection in Oslo.

I'll find it.

The round silver thing is the microphone to the chauffeur.

A/C was a trunk mounted unit with the vent on the rear shelf behind the seat.

The grille in the floor is for a heater, which is probably an add on for this car given the standard method was to route under the seat heat from the front through grilles in the seat back. After all, Norway was pretty cold in 1942, especially the winter of 1941 where temperatures were -70C.
I don't think we will ever see that again.

That has to be one of only a handful of '42 180 Touring Limousines by LeBaron and possibly the best original survivor. Thanks for look at that rarity. An additional heater would be expected for that part of the world. On the other hand, A/C would be an unnecessary extravagance.

The King didn't update his limousines too often. The Cadillac 75 limousines are a 1951 and a 1980-'85. The latter is difficult to pinpoint by appearance, it is among those last years a Fleetwood rwd lwb chassis was built.

The article is in the 1971 Number 4 Classic Car Club magazine. You can see it on the museum website.

And the car did have air conditioning.

I'd paste some of it but there is copyright plastered on it.

I used to have all of my copies way back, but they didn't survive when I moved overseas. That's okay because my memory seems to be holding up.
