Good afternoon all...We have a 1949 Deluxe Four Door and it has one little after market clamp on exterior rear view mirror on the driver's door. It is sort of 'Un-Packard' if you know what I mean. Can someone with more knowledge than I post a photograph of what a set of such mirrors looks like. I can find them for the 48's but not the 49's. Thanks, Ernie in Arizona

22nd series 49s used the same mirror as the 21st and 22nd series 46-48 models with the two exposed screws holding it to the belt molding. Repros of those are available.

23rd series 49s used a more streamlined mirror with a hidden attachment. I don't have a photo but until one shows up with better quality than the few shown on cars in the photo archive here is a 23rd series install template giving a general idea of the shape. I believe Fred Kanter supplied the template and Owen_Dyneto posted it. No repros I know of on the 23rd series mirrors. Kanter did have NOS listed but was pricy (no idea if any are still available).

Also I found the below picture on Facebook and it looks like a clamp on mirror was use in that old picture, maybe.

Howard has already provided as much information as I could add. All of my 1948-49 Packards are 22nd Series and Ernie's car is a 23rd Series which has a different belt moulding, hence e very scarce factory rear view mirror.
