Don,

They are listed in the Vintage Air catalog, three different sizes for the Gen 2 units, these are the two smaller ones. You can buy them at Summit Racing for $49 plus $11 shipping.

The Vintage Air vertical control panel is a close fit to the radio block-off plate. Used the template provided to mark the back of the block-off plate. A drill and die grinder removed most of the material. Hand filed the hole for the final fit. The control panel turned out to be an exact fit between the upper and lower chrome bars of the radio grille. Looks like it belongs in the original dash.

Continuing to work on my AC project. The gauges and switches are all pre-wired and the mounts to hold the mock-up evaporator/blower are completed. Starting to mount the condenser and cooling fan. The condenser is a Vintage Air Super Flow 17" by 19". I was listed for a 1940 Ford but fits the Packard perfectly. The fan is a Zirco 16" reversible with quiet running curved blades. Due to the placement of the radiator and water pump the fan will be mounted in the front of the radiator. As received it was a "puller" to be mounted to the back of the radiator but it is reversible so the fan was removed and turned around and turned into a "pusher". The 12V polarity checked for pusher operation. The fan was "almost" direct fit to the brackets on the condenser but "almost" wasn't quite good enough so some mounting brackets were made to attach the fan. The only issue I've run into so far is being able to drill the holes for the lower condenser mounting brackets to the car. Hope I don't have to pull the grille!

Finished the mounting brackets for the cooling fan and condenser. Next up, mounting the Sanden 508 compressor on the left side of the engine to run on a single wide belt.

Nice! Somehow I was picturing it attached at the sides rather than at the top and bottom.

Don,

It is attached at the side panels on both sides. The fan is attached at the top and bottom of the condenser. More detail at PAC. Here's a better picture of it out of the car. The extra lengths on the plastic fan mounts are not attached to anything and will be trimmed off before the final installation.

Oh, I see! It's looking good and I've been following the progress with considerable interest and am impressed with the workmanship.

Mounting the compressor was easier than I thought it would be. Removed the oil filter and mocked-up the compressor mounting plate with some scrap steel decking. The compressor I'm using for the mock-up is a double pulley with narrow belts. For the final belt alignment, I have to wait until the new wide belt compressor arrives.

Tinman;

My compressor is mounted on the 'other side' and picks-up the two goose neck bolts and one manifold stud. The car is equipped with an oil filter and power steering which likely influenced the mounting choice.
