Thank you Howard but I wasn't too clear. I meant as opposed to the Willard. Where does it come into play or was it shown only for reference of a vintage style?

In the meantime I looked at Napa and see Group 31 batteries all the way from around $140 to over $400 but they are all marine or commercial with threaded posts instead of (sometimes in addition to) the automotive type posts. The point is, if Willard or other reproductions are the only games in town, as expensive as they are they would seem the way to go!

Exide made the group 60. My dad had his JC penny in that style. But they quit making that group. I have the battery. 109 bucks I use the walmart battery. Deep cycle.

Napa has the same battery. But a lot more.

Delco also made the Group 60 batteries, they were OEM equipment in Cadillac and I believe Buick in 1955/56.

But which brand would be proper for an authentic restoration?

Per the Packard specifications as shown near the begining of this thread, Packard used two suppliers, Willard and Autolite so either would be correct.

I purchased a Walmart Everstart MAXX-27 PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF SIZE.
Assembled Product Dimensions (L x W x H)
12.00 x 6.80 x 8.90 Inches

Admittedly it does not have six individual caps on top but it fits in the battery case very nicely.
