These pits will get epoxy.
Bottom and side. It's thin.

After a year plus soaking the one stuck piston from both the top and bottom and utilizing every penetrant known to man, heat and cold, I decided it was time for drastic measures.
I drilled 4 , 1/4" holes 12, 3, 6 and 9 O'clock very close to the outer rim of the piston. I was able to drill down into the ring grooves. I filled the holes with Kroil, heated the piston until it boiled the Kroil. This allowed the Kroil to get to the rings. I repeated this cycle several times and with a big drift and a hammer, I was finally able to drive it out. Amazingly there is no damage to the bore and no rust. Now on to the cam.

Riki,
Thanks for the timing cover photos. Nice work. I got the MIG running yesterday so while I am social distancing, I will give it a try. Bill

I'd bet that piston will be hanging on the garage wall of fame for a long time.

Might hang it after the autopsy.

Just got word that the one main bearing which had a divot out of it is done and will be shipping Monday. I was able to get all of the head studs out and I am taking the engine to a shop owned by a co worker's brother to be cleaned and fluxed. He has a Rottler boring machine should I need it.
Only major issue at the moment is the repair of the front water pump housing. Have started MIG/TIG repairs.

It might have been easier to take a hole saw to piston top and saw four slots toward the bore then break the thing into pieces.
