That illustration is from page 41 of the "Packard One Twenty BODY Shop Manual" copyright 1936.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I did not think it looked like the Super Eight pattern. Also, the sequence of photos portray it to be a one-man operation....which would be quite a challenge with a Senior top.

It's easily a one-man operation, if you follow the method.
If there are any instructions about putting down the top on specifically a 1940-1942 convertible sedan, I'd love to see them. I have something that appears to be a compilation of manuals or service letters that encompasses 14th - 20th series which I bought too many years ago. Centered at the bottom of each page is the section name such as BODY or CHASSIS, etc. It has the instructions for an earlier Packard, which I used as tips which were very helpful. I was about to have a boot made when the corona hit. The estimate was $1200. I had my original one when I was a kid and tossed it because it was mildewy and I didn't know how to get the top low enough to make it fit. Stupidity of youth. Don't toss anything. But I did remember how it was made and drew it for the shop. It's nothing like the few pictures of restored '40 conv sedans I've found with their tops down, which tend to be very baggy, lumpy and somewhat misshapen. The reason is they are missing the stiffening board sewn into various sections of them.

I have found it to be a 3 man job. On man on each side and one rear facing in the back seat. The '37 Seniors have a knob on the top of the back rest. the knob has to be pulled up and then pull the back rest forward to allow the top to collapse down into the well.
Then you can install the boot for a cleaner look. I assume the designers never drove a convertible sedan with the top down...otherwise WHY would they attach the sun visors to the top? You REALLY need them when the top is down.

To prevent the car being seen in "Mickey Mouse ears" mode? Visors fipped vertically up to show above the windshield. One car I had had the visors fold in half on the long axis to stow well
