Do you have a picture of the head you are trying to replace?

I don't at the moment but let me see if I can get one and post it. I'm about 45 minutes + from the car.

@O_D:
1 of my 35 eight parts cars has a head with "242511" on it as well. Were those heads quiet common, or is that a coincidence?

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

Hi BDC, can't say I have a feeling for it one way or the other. But I suppose one would expect heads to be more common from the years where aluminum heads weren't offered, given approximately equal number of engines produced.

David (Flackmaster) is the Man! If you need the parts, get them while you can. They aren't making them anymore,

Hello su8overfrive,
I'm having a heck of a time getting these 2 pictures attached to this e-mail so if they don't come thru please let me know.
In the top-down shot You can plainly see the large gouge. It wasn't noticeable at time of purchase because it had been filled-in, sanded and painted. Only after we pulled the engine and started cleaning parts did we get a glimpse of it, then of course we the whole thinking was revealed. We then thought it prudent to check the rest of the head. We used an electro-magnetic magnet and metal powder and found more hairline cracks below the surface and pretty extensive. Hence my search for a quality replacement.
Regards,
Tom
PS I'm not seeing pictures from this end !

This head is likely like the one the flackmaster has. The photo of your head shows a 3 bolt distributor base, so that should bolt right on. You can see from the photo the difference in the coolant hose configuration. This should work fine on your engine.

ummmm...well yeah, but not as shiny as yours. Maybe we should start a discussion on what kind of wax is best on the cylinder head...oh, and I can't see what casting number is on your head.... ;)
